The peripheral nervous system starts from the spinal cord and nerves and passes to the periphery supplying the various parts of the arms, legs, chest and abdomen.

The autonomic nervous system supplies the various organs of the body. It is made of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems, which have opposite effects on the organs concerned.
